You heard the news about the upcoming ambassador car model from Hindusthan Motors. The date was announced, launch was in December 2024, car render images out in the media. I am excited for the car launch and I hope you guys too! As of now, when I am writing this thread, launch already delayed.
As per media reports, the car will be pure electric. TOI reported last year about a joint venture between Hindustan Motors and Peugeot(French automobile) to work on the design and engine. Their last car was rolled-out in September 2014. Due to heavy debt and demand issues, the brand was sold to the Groupe PSA(French Automobile).
Let’s keep all things aside.

Above those pictures and media is using the render images. Being design enthusiast we know, in the end it looks different as presented in images. I want to first cover my thoughts on the old ambassador car…
The white one, India’s best selling car. I talked to people who still feel the same way that the car was the best in old time and people still driving. It has some form and function which attracts people’s attention but in design the most important thing is originality. If we can talk about first model inspiration which came from the Morris Oxford Series 3.
I want to bring your attention toward the time-era and people mindset. In old times people in India, having no formal education and online connectivity. It was easy to sell any product as an original product, still use case from the another car. People didn’t think that much, buy it because they were seeing it first time.
Curiosity in all of us, what will hindusthan motors bring new this time? Nowadays people are more educated and knowledgeable. We are looking for a new form and function. Now HM already sold to a French Automobile, here we can’t say it is designed in India by indian designer. I am not a critic of any brand or product. Only love and appreciation toward indian auto designers.
