Hindustan Motors ComeBack!

In the news, there are many misconceptions about Hindustan Motors comeback. In 2022, the company announced it would come back as an electric car manufacturer. It will be a joint venture with a European automotive company, and somewhere, it was also mentioned that they would start with electric two-wheelers.

I don’t know why a company with a good reputation wants to start in the two-wheeler segment. There is too much competition in this segment already. All companies are burning money to sell more electric scooters and continuously struggling with market shares in India.

Well, the company founded in 1942, made the name a symbol by selling more cars to the Indian middle class. In 1990 the company waned from the industry due to the global automobile giant’s entry in India with affordable and fuel-efficient cars like the Maruti Suzuki 800. In the 2000 market change, Indian automobiles competed on a worldwide level, and Hindustan Motors left behind the race due to production lines becoming outdated, quality slipping, and the company struggling to innovate. The Ambassador, once beloved, seemed outdated. In 2014 they discontinued the production line for ambassador cars and now they only make commercial vehicles.

For me, the exciting thing is that the company has 82 years of history, which will be the biggest comeback in the Indian automobile industry in the coming years. Being fans of Its first flagship car, the Ambassador, king of Indian roads and people still using it along with their other car contessa.

I want to know your side story for Hindustan Motors and request you give a view on what they need to focus on for a great comeback.

The story of Hindustan Motors is one of nostalgia, decline, and hope for revival.

My opinion, is they should come first a car, the old ambassador. With new design and features can be attractive for their fan base. Due to their old track record, fans will give them a chance to enter into market. Once they have few early buyers, sales will be only depend on their product quality and customer support.

Like Bajaj did with Chetak scooter, now due to good quality, company own fair market share to gain the further market in two-wheeler segment in :india:, a core reason behind is

  1. Old and trusted fan base, people know chetak as scooter :slightly_smiling_face:
  2. Company focused on quality and after sales customer support :star_struck:

@Kunal you’re right, no one want bike from car brand and vice-versa car from a bike brand. It is so simple

Absolutely, you’re right. It is simple.

In that way if they will make first scooter then hard to gain the market share due to current high competition. Initially this is easy, but entering in market with low price product having high risk to gain the market share…tuff battle :ninja:

If they make car, first then easy for them to gain market share due to brand value but having high risk on capital investment… :money_with_wings:

Both plan having pros and cons, let’s see what happen
