While building a race car, most followed advice is first work on power and after done aerodynamics improvements through race car testing. I’m confuse in final stage data comparison, where what must be priority? Specially having limited funds to spend on car.
Hi there,
You have just touched the topic very near to my heart. As long as my knowledge is concerned or information known to me till date there are two major conditions you have raised in this post. One what to look for as long as you are starting with and have limited funds. Wise person would always say it would be preferable to focus on power. Though it would be advisable during beginning, but only power would not make the vehicle best in class. As there is need to avoid losses. It could only be achieved by detail engineering. This detail engineering would be combination of power transfer system, drive, aerodynamics and power controls. So as per my opinion though power is first lookout, the complete engineering design would be most important for best vehicle.
- Power according to your budget
- Design aerodynamics according to power
That’s a really good question, and I think everyone no matter if it’s a new racing company or a veteran company with experience goes through through this problem of choice. The priority of between aerodynamics and power depends mainly on the type of racing, the race track, platform and budget that is allocated.
